The Karachi Bakery manager in Bengaluru outlet has claimed that he received a call to 'blast the store' if the word 'Karachi' not removed from the name board.' The alleged threat comes amid the heighetened tension between India and Pakistan and the capture of an Indian Air Force pilot yesterday by Pakistan after an air combat.
- Abhinandan Varthaman returned after nearly 60 hours in Pakistan
- He was received by Indian security officers at Attari-Wagah border
- He will be taken for a detailed medical checkup: Air Vice Marshal
Captured Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman returned to India late on Friday after nearly 60 hours in Pakistan. Dressed in navy blue blazers, white shirt and grey trousers, the pilot - with a black eye - smiled as he crossed into India through the Attari-Wagah border, hours later than expected. Escorted by Pakistan Rangers till the Zero Line that marks the India-Pakistan land border, he was received by Indian security officers and whisked away.
Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was shot down on Wednesday while flying a MiG-21 fighter in a dogfight with Pakistani aircraft and captured. His first words were 'it is good to be back in my country', an official told reporters.
'He will be taken for a detailed medical checkup. The officer has had to eject from a plane which would have put his body under immense strain,' said Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor, reading out a short statement and refusing to take questions.
Indian air force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, captured by Pakistani forces on Wednesday, has become the point of focus amid tensions between the two countries. The fighter pilot, who has 16 years. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will release captured Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman on Friday (today) as a gesture of peace in order to de-escalate the soaring tensions with New Delhi.
As Abhinandan Varthaman's homecoming was delayed, 'documentation' was cited as the hold-up. The Press Trust of India quoted sources as saying the handover was delayed as he was forced to record a statement on camera by Pakistani authorities before he was allowed to cross the border. Pakistan put out the video just before his release.
The pilot's homecoming, which inspired many hashtags on social media, was celebrated across the nation with politicians, celebrities and others saluting his grace and courage in the most dangerous circumstances.
Abhinandan Varthman was in Pakistan's captivity for around 60 hours.
'Welcome Home Wing Commander Abhinandan! The nation is proud of your exemplary courage. Our armed forces are an inspiration for 130 crore Indians. Vande Mataram!' tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Large crowds had waited for hours to welcome him at the Attari-Wagah crossing, holding flags and garlands and dancing and cheering.
To restrict the crowds, an elaborate flag-lowering ceremony at the Attari-Wagah crossing between Indian and Pakistani soldiers - which draws thousands of spectators on both sides - had been cancelled in the afternoon. New Delhi had earlier asked for permission to send a special IAF flight to bring back the pilot from Islamabad, say sources, but Pakistan rejected the request.
Abhinandan Varthaman, who comes from a family of decorated fighter pilots, became for many a symbol of hope and the easing of tension between India and Pakistan after their biggest standoff in years.
Images of his capture and questioning, circulated from Pakistani accounts, left millions of Indians stricken and worried. The 38-year-old was blind-folded, his eyes bleeding over his handlebar moustache and his hands tied behind his back. A video showed him dragged from a pond, surrounded by locals.
The alarming videos were taken off as Pakistan was accused of violating the Geneva Convention.
A video later showed Abhinandan Varthaman sipping tea, his eyes swollen. He calmly answered questions, refusing to speak on his mission while praising his treatment by the Pakistan Army.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's announcement that he would be released as a 'peace gesture' signaled a thaw after rapid escalation this week.
The announcement marked a dramatic shift in mood after the two countries engaged in an aerial clash for the first time in nearly 50 years on Wednesday.
World leaders had urged both countries to step back as hostilities peaked over the past few days as India sent fighter planes to strike a terror training camp in Pakistan and Islamabad tried to target Indian military installations in response.
The confrontation erupted after the February 14 Pulwama attack by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, in which over 40 soldiers were killed. India's air strikes on Tuesday targeted a huge Jaish training facility in Pakistan's Balakot, around 80 km from the Line of Control.

India had been on high alert amid warnings of retaliation by Pakistan (File)
New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced in Pakistan's parliament that the Indian Air Force pilot in its custody will be released tomorrow as a peace gesture. Earlier, the country had said it was prepared to release the pilot from its custody if doing so would ease tensions with India, its foreign ministry said Thursday. 'We are ready to hand over the Indian pilot if it leads to de-escalation,' the Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman told news agency AFP, attributing the statement to Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
India has said that it expects the 'immediate and safe return' of the pilot who was captured by Pakistan during an air combat on Wednesday. Sources have told NDTV that there will be 'no deal' on the Indian Air Force pilot. The government would not ask for consular access. 'We want him back. If Pakistan thinks that they have a card to negotiate with, they do not,' sources said.
Earlier today, the United States, United Kingdom and France have moved a fresh proposal at the United Nations Security Council or UNSC to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist. If the proposal in passed, Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed or JeM chief Masood Azhar will get the tag of being a 'UN-designated global terrorist', which in turn would subject him to global travel ban, asset freeze and arms embargo.
The move comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after IAF fighter jets destroyed a major terror camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot, around 80 km from the Line of Control, in a pre-dawn strike on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, New Delhi summoned the Pakistan envoy and lodged a strong protest over 'unprovoked act of aggression by Pakistan', saying its jets had targeted military installations in India a day after Indian fighter jets crossed the Line of Control and carried out a strike at a major terror camp.
India had been on high alert amid warnings of retaliation by Islamabad after IAF fighter jets destroyed a major terror camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot, around 80 km from the Line of Control, in a pre-dawn strike on Tuesday.
New Delhi said it was a 'non-military and pre-emptive' strike based on credible inputs that Jaish was training suicide bombers for more attacks in the country. Over 40 soldiers were killed on February 14 when a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber attacked a security convoy.
